Oliver C.Nyakunga - Short Biographical sketch |
Oliver Castor Nyakunga is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Wildlife Management at the College of African Wildlife Management, Mweka. She did a Diploma Course in Wildlife Management at the College of African Wildlife Management, Mweka in 1996 and received her BSc General Majoring in Wildife Ecology and Zoology in 2003 at the University of Dar es Salaam. Oliver joined the College in 2003 as an Assistant Lecturer. Hold various certificates including Regional Train the Trainers Course on People, Poverty and Natural Resource Management at Johannesburg (2004), Area Focused Training in Wildlife Conservation and Management for African Countries at Japan Wildlife Research Centre in Japan (2005), Concepts and Techniques in Ecology, Experimental Design and Sampling Methods, at Amani Nature Reserve in Tanzania Sponsored by TBA (2006) and Population Dynamics of Zebras, Giraffes, and Rhinos of the Savannah (Herbivore Census) in Hluhluwe - Imforozi Park, Kwazulu – Natal Sponsored by Earthwatch Institute (Europe), 2006. And recently received a Practicing Certificate by NACTE (The National Council For Technical Education) as a professional engaged in teaching. Before join Mweka she has been working with Tanzania National Parks and Ranger Safari Company. Oliver has vast experience in wildlife management, tourism and conservation. She is a member of WCST, JATA and SCB. Oliver received the Ngorongor Conservation Award for being the Best Second Year student in Wildlife Field Course at the University of Dar es Salaam 2001/2002. Her interests include conducting training, research and consultancy in the areas of Biodiversity Conservation, Wildlife Resources and Ecology, Protected Area Planning and Tourism.
